The Iowa Program for Infant Toddler Care (IA PITC) is a unique program for child care providers, parents and other caregivers of infants and toddlers as well as those working with the families of infants and toddlers. Quality infant and toddler care depends on special relationships between young children and trained caregivers who are in tune with each child's needs. Infants are naturally curious, they come into the world with an urge to learn. The IA PITC training helps caregivers design environments which are healthy and safe, and yet offer developmental challenges. The goal of IA PITC is to help caregivers recognize the crucial importance of giving tender, loving care and assisting in the infants' intellectual development through an attentive reading of each child's cues (California WestEd PITC).
