Maternal health services are available to expectant women in the state of Iowa. Services are available to all Iowa residents regardless of religion, race, color, or number of pregnancies.

Healthy parents have healthy babies. Early, regular and complete health care before and during your pregnancy improves your chances of having a healthy baby.

What are the Benefits of Maternal Health?

At your Maternal Health appointment, you will receive:

  • Payment assistance for child birth and/or parenting classes
  • Health education, health screenings and referrals to help you and your baby be as healthy as you can be
  • Oral health screenings, fluoride varnish applications and dental referrals
  • Referrals to other health care or local community services
  • Assistance with applying for Medicaid
  • Help in arranging for your delivery
  • Social assessment and referrals
  • Referrals for family planning and child health care

  • Iowa resident
  • Meet income guidelines: 300% of Federal Poverty Guidelines

Child and Adolescent Health

Children from birth to 21 years of age qualify for the Child Health Program. The Child Health Program provides financial assistance for un-insured or under-insured children needing medical and dental care. Services are free for income-eligible families. Please call to see if you qualify for these services.

 


 

What are the Benefits of Child Health Services?

Children in the Child Health Program receive the following health care services:

  • Lead screenings
  • Developmental assessments
  • Oral health screenings, fluoride varnish applications and dental referrals
  • Help with finding a dentist
  • Help finding a payment source for dental care
  • Assistance with Hawki applications
  • Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility

A registered nurse is available to answer questions, offer anticipatory guidance, help schedule appointments, and assist in accessing other community services.
