Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. was awarded $712.00 for its Rock Rapids Head Start center and $897.00 for its Rock Rapids Outreach office from the Rock Rapids United Fund. The United Fund raised $18,600.00 in 2020 to support projects in the local community.
The Head Start preschool classroom operated by Mid-Sioux will serve up to 20 children. “A comprehensive approach to quality preschool education has been provided in the Rock Rapids community for over 40 years. Head Start is federally funded and requires a match of 25 cents for every $1 federal dollar we receive.” Says Dick Sievers Executive Director at Mid-Sioux. “This means the $712 provided by the United Fund will bring in $2,136.00 in federal assistance.
The Mid-Sioux Outreach office in Rock Rapids provides a contact point for families needing assistance. “Last year we served 791 people” says Sievers. “The United Fund helps us to meet family needs through the various services we provide to families.”
