Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. is the recipient of a $10,000.00 grant from the Union Pacific Foundation. “These funds will be very helpful as we work to support families in need of emergency/crisis assistance.” Says Mid-Sioux Executive Director, Dick Sievers. “There are always families who seem to fall through the cracks and COVID-19 has increased these situations.” He added. Mid-Sioux’s crisis program helps families at or below 200 % of the federal poverty standard. Assistance may be in the form of payments for rent, utilities, food and other services.

The UP Foundation is a mechanism for the Union Pacific Railroad to provide support to the communities in its service territory. Their foundation provides numerous grants to non-profit agencies in order to further the mission of their Community Ties local grants program.

Funding received by Mid-Sioux will be used in Lyon, Sioux, Plymouth, Cherokee and Ida counties. Mid-Sioux is a private non-profit community action agency serving Northwest Iowa since 1965.
