NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING - Iowa Weatherization Assistance Program

DES MOINES – Iowans have an opportunity to review and comment on Iowa’s Weatherization Assistance Program proposed Program Year 2023 State Plan.

The Weatherization Program’s mission is to enhance the well-being of low-income residents, particularly those persons who are most vulnerable such as the elderly, the handicapped, and children, through the installation of energy efficiency and energy-related health and safety measures, thus benefiting households through reduced energy bills, enhanced comfort, and the mitigation of energy-related health risks. The Iowa Department of Human Rights, Division of Community Action Agencies (DCAA) has been designated by the Governor of Iowa to administer Iowa’s Weatherization Assistance Program.

Copies of the proposed Iowa Weatherization Assistance Program Year 2023 State Plan will be available for public viewing at all Iowa Community Action Agencies, the Iowa Community Action Association, and on the DCAA website from January 30, 2023 through February 9, 2023.

Funds budgeted in this plan are based on 2022 funding levels and will be adjusted when final 2023 allocations are determined. The plan is subject to change based on comments received by the state and regulations from the U.S. Department Energy. Funds may be reallocated as necessary to fully expend the grant award during the budget period.

Written comments regarding the plan will be accepted through February 9, 2023 at 8:00am, emailed to dcaa@iowa.gov with the subject “DOE State Plan Comments”.

The public hearing is being held virtually: February 9, 2023 at 8:30am

Attendees should register by emailing dcaa@iowa.gov.

Verbal comments received during the meeting are limited to 10 minutes per person.
