Executive Director of Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. Dick Sievers has announced his retirement effective December 31, 2023. Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. is a private non-profit community action agency with services throughout the state of Iowa. The agency was established in 1965 with Sievers serving as Executive Director since 1983. The agency Board of Directors will begin seeking a replacement within the next few weeks.
“It has been a pleasure to serve Northwest Iowa and Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. these past 40 years,” says Sievers, “Mid-Sioux has developed from a small non-profit to one of the largest in Northwest Iowa. That growth was possible because of a dedicated staff and board. Our communities have been great partners. I’m confident that the agency will continue to prosper under new leadership.”
Mid-Sioux has 130 employees with an annual budget of over $16 million. Their services include: Head Start/Early Head Start, W.I.C., Maternal Health, Energy Assistance (LIHEAP), Weatherization, Crisis Assistance, Outreach, Family Self-Sufficiency, Child Care Resource & Referral, Child Care Collaborative of Iowa and others.
The Mid-Sioux Board of Directors wishes to thank Mr. Sievers for his service to the agency. “Dick has been a steady hand in leading Mid-Sioux,” says Board President Tom Letsche, “He has helped the agency make a difference in the lives of many of our residents. He will be missed and we thank him for the advancement of the agency under his leadership.”
